Key Details About the Creation:
Concept: Gerry Conway conceived of the character, initially intending him to be a villain or antagonist for Spider-Man.
Inspiration: Conway was inspired by The Executioner book series by Don Pendleton.
Design: While Conway sketched the original idea for the costume, John Romita Sr. is responsible for designing the iconic large skull emblem on the chest.
Name: According to Stan Lee, he suggested the name “The Punisher” for the character.
