About Healthy Missions Founder: Tarkus MossbergĀ

Our personal missionary goals overseas:

My name is Tarkus Mossberg and my personal missionary goals are stated below. This is seprate from the goals of the organization called Healthy Missions. The goals of the Organization can be found on the tab "Welcome."

I will be open to letting the Holy Spirit lead me, but currently I plan on living near foreign Seminaries and missionary families anywhere from a few months to several years! Initially I plan to teach Business Classes at the college level while running the Health Insurance business and we might start out in Italy, Croatia, Greece, or Turkey. I am planning on leaving Aug 2014 when my teenage daughter is in her second year of college. It would be a joy if she'd like to accompany me on this journey. The support and encouragement I'd like to bring to the table are:

1. Biblical Counseling: Complete my Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling from the "Masters College," established by John MacArthur. I'd like to provide biblical counseling to pastors, missionary families, church leaders and church members. Also I'd like to build up local believers to provide this much needed ministry as well. My heart is to build up, encourage, and counsel fellow saints using the infallible Word of God. And to try and eliminate the cultural desire to look towards worldly counseling technique, tricks, and things that, "Tickle the ears."

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.

I have been ministering to and working professionally with "recovering" Alcoholics for over 22 years. I would like to plant ministries in each of the cities I visit dedicated to the sanctification of Christian believers that are involved in this kind of sin. I have a heart for these people. I'd like to bring sound biblical counsel for the Christian involved in this kind of sin. For the non-Christian, this ministry will provide countless opportunities to evangelize and bring sinners to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, knowing its God's hand of mercy and grace that brings people to Himself.

2. Fellowship: I would like to provide this potentially much needed fellowship for our brothers and sisters that are far from their home Church body, active on the mission field and are being attacked by Satan daily. I also want to provide fellowship for the believers in the local community that desire and long for it as well.

3. Encouragement: I'd like to provide this to the missionaries, pastors, local believers and new converts. God is sovereign and we can take Joy in persecution for Christ's sake!

James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

4. Administration: I'd like to offer to help organize Church events, bible studies, prayer meetings, Church structure, and co-ordinate with local cities to do outreach and varying ministries. There is a balance to keeping the Church pure, and then providing evangelistic opportunities to witness to the lost without disobeying God's Word to be separate.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God;

5. Physical Labor: I'd like to offer my help with any construction, security, and physical labor needed.

6. Teaching: I will be teaching English as a Second language, and would like to offer these classes for free to the community. I also have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and plan to teach business classes either at a local college or on-line back in the US. I want to use my skills as a business coach for 5 years, in the area of marketing, sales and Internet/technology to help missionaries learn how to market themselves better and raise much needed funds. I believe there is a strong need to train missionaries on how to ask for and solicit donations and how to stay in touch more effectively with their supporters and church body using technology and the internet.
7. Bible Study: I have been involved with Crown ministries, which provides biblical training on how to manage money according to God's Word. I'd like to provide classes and bible studies in this area if the Lord leads me here. Furthermore, I'd like to offer teaching for the body of Christ that includes "solid food" from the Word of God including sound doctrine and biblical counseling.

1 Corinthians 3:1 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?

Hebrews 5:12-14 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

8. Financial Support: I will be offering financial support depending on my budget and abilities to continue to generate revenue and Health Insurance commissions while I am in overseas.

Our long term "Vision" for Healthy Missions:

I would like to build this business model and then replicate it across America so other future missionaries can fully fund their overseas calling, without the worry and burden caused by a severe lack of funding.

As soon as I can make this business model viable and replicable, I'd like to recruit other Mission sighted seminary students to do the same thing, so that their financial concerns are covered allowing them to focus more on Christ's work and less on finances. When this business model is looked upon with excitement in the Christian community, I will go Church to Church sharing my vision, recruiting future missionary students, and gaining clients from within the church body.

These are all Missionary friends of mine working on the Logos Hope, Croatia, in June 2007. I would like to see Healthy Missions grow to be able to finance 100 Missionaries overseas, fully, by 2020.

How can you help?

You can help build Healthy Missions in 3 ways:

1. My personal goal is to add about 50 small businesses or 200 individuals that I need to enroll in health insurance over the next 4 years. That is only 12 small businesses a year, or 1 a month, I would need to attract to be able to fully fund my missionary work overseas.... for possibly a lifetime! If you know anyone that needs Health Insurance that would like to also help build up a missionary organization, please introduce them to me. I can provide all help via the phone and Internet and we can find them the best Health Insurance for their needs and at the same time build an army of missionaries to head overseas with a newfound sense of commitment and direction.

Health insurance commissions are set up so that the income would continue to roll in to me as long as the companies, or individuals, maintain their health insurance! Certainly over time the monthly income would decrease. Our original goal to start (Aug 2013) would be $5K/mo coming in from health insurance commissions.  We would plan for a budget of $2K/mo for living expenses while on the missionary field. So even if the revenue decreased by 50% over 4 years, that would still leave us with a $2,500 monthly budget. Furthermore I can manage, maintain, and even build my business all on line! So I can maintain this business model even while overseas.

If a business owner wants to support sending missionary families overseas, finding suppliers that directly impact a missionary’s ability to do this makes sound business sense. All small business owners need health insurance anyways. It just makes sense to get it from a Christian broker. It makes even more sense if that Christian Broker is funneling all his commissions into a non-profit organization that will fund his future Missionary journey. And if this model is successful, can be replicated across the country!

2. The Second area you can help in is to refer Seminary students, or other would be missionaries, to me that would like to be part of Healthy Missions, and get licensed to sell Health Insurance. These future missionaries would need a window of 3-4 years to build up a revenue stream that would fund their journey. It will probably cost them about $500-$700 to get licensed in their state.

3. The Third area you can help in is to introduce me to your Pastor or Elders so I may come out to your church, share this vision, and build a future army of missionaries that are fully funded!!!!! I believe that when business owners, seminary students, and families find out how purchasing health insurance from a seminary student, at their church, will completely fund their overseas journey, they will be excited to help!

Thank you for taking the time to review our Missionary vision. I look forward to meeting you in this life or the next, God Bless you!!!
